Daniel L. Schmid
Associate
Mr. Schmid’s practice focuses on patent litigation and commercial litigation matters. He is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience representing clients in federal courts across the country, as well as the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Mr. Schmid has been named a “Texas Rising Star” for nine consecutive years from 2017-2025 and has been ranked by Patexia as one the best-performing patent litigators in the country (#88 out of 17,052 patent litigators analyzed).
Mr. Schmid has also previously prosecuted patents in a range of technical disciplines, including software, mechanical, and biomedical applications and has experience in copyright and antitrust litigation.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Schmid worked as a Research Engineer for The University of Texas Center for Electromechanics. His work there focused on the commercialization and development of an oil extraction process for the production of algal biofuels.
